Rose Marie Howard
BALLARD, W.Va. — Rose Marie Howard, 86, of Woodson Road, Ballard, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg Va.
Born January 29, 1927, at Thornhill, she was the daughter of the late Lynch Curran and Johnsie McMillan Curran.
After her graduation from high school, Rose taught school in a one room building at Barber School on Windmill Gap Mountain. She also had earned her CNA certification, allowing her to render assistance and provide loving care to many elderly people throughout Monroe, Greenbrier and Giles Counties. Rose attended Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed being visited by their missionaries. Rose was a strong person, having great strength, encouragement and inspiration to all those surrounding her in her family and friendships.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Howard; two siblings, Jacqueline “Jackie” Howard and Donald Curran.
Survivors include her three children, Neil Mason and Karen Mason, both of Ballard and Diana Mason of Peterstown; her beloved dog, Emmy; three siblings, Wesley Curran and wife Juanita, of Glenwood L.A. Curran and wife Annie, of Milton Wisc., Elizabeth (Gerri) Davies & husband Dan, of Dumfries Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins,
The family has honored Rose's request, her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be held 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Matt Mann speaking. A time of visiting with the family will follow at the funeral home.
