BLUEFIELD —
John (Johnny) William Woody Sr., 51, of Frederick Street, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, March 07, 2013 at his home from a brain hemorrhage.
Born on January 01, 1962 in Bluefield to the late Joyce Woody Nelson and James Harold. He had been a resident of Bluefield all his life and attended the First Church of Nazarene.
Johnny was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, father-in-law, friend and neighbor. Johnny would help you in any way he could. Johnny worked as a laborer all his life. He also helped take care of his grandson Zyler and daughter daily. Johnny enjoyed drawing, singing, making everyone laugh and spending time with Zyler whom he loved more than life. Johnny will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James (Jimmy) Woody and Paul Woody; nephew, Jamie Walker; and great-nephew, Bo Clay.
Johnny will be loved and missed by his survivors: One daughter: Paula (Woody) Booth and husband Barry of Bluefield; two sons: John (J.J.) Woody Jr. of Bluefield and Robbie Smith and wife Marsha of Springville, Va.; a very special grandson: Zyler Woody of the home; grandchildren: John (Trey) Woody II and Chole Woody of Wyoming County, W.Va., Katilyn Simpson and Seth Smith of Montcalm, W.Va.; one brother: Harold Woody of Virginia; two sisters: Marie Walker of Virginia and Vicky Call of Princeton, W.Va.; two half-sisters: Patti Harold of Princeton, W.Va. and Sammie Poteet of Montcalm, W.Va.; nieces: Dawn Woody Evans, Kathy Woody, Nikki Estep, Amber King, Tory King; nephew: Jeffery King; great-nieces: Leandria Woody and Jaiden Estep; great-nephew: Kyle Shrewsbury; cousins: Gerald Poe and Cheryl Kay Shrewsbury; special friends: Barry Booth, Robbie Higginbotham, Peggy and Ronnie, Bobby and Brenda Higginbotham, Jonathan Collins, Bill, Sue Booth and many neighbors on Frederick Street whom he helped greatly.
Friends and family may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Rev. Gary Jakes officiating. In honoring Johnny's wishes he will be cremated following the service.
