SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. —
Greta Beane Houck, 31, of Spotsylvania County, Va., peacefully departed this life on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital with her family by her side. Greta was born November 29, 1980 in Fredericksburg, Va.
During her time on earth, Greta exhibited a vivacious spirit for life filled with a strong commitment to human rights, a love for animals and the natural ability to make those around her find joy and laughter.
Greta is survived by her father and mother, Senator Edd Houck and Dana Blankenship Houck; a brother, Todd Houck and his wife, Cheri and their children, Kyla and Kalissa and her fiancé, Jason Ladmirault.
Additional survivors include an uncle, Ronald Houck; two aunts, Donna Compton and Dorothy Houck; a step-grandmother, Betsy Blankenship; and her caretaker, Judy Spradlin.
She leaves a host of other family members and loved ones to cherish her memory.
A Celebration of Greta’s life will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Salem Baptist Church, 4044 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Packard officiating.
Greta’s family will receive friends from Noon until 2 p.m. at the church.
A reception will be held immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Greta’s name to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central Virginia Chapter, 4200 Innslake Drive, Suite 301, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
