BLUEFIELD —
Mary Elizabeth Hicks, 78, of Bluefield, W.Va., passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012, in a Roanoke, Va. hospital. Born May 16, 1934 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the Clarence and Thelma Thomas.
Mrs. Hicks was of the Methodist faith and a devoted homemaker and wife.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Thomas Hicks Sr.; a son: Tommy Roger Hicks; four brothers: Otis Thomas, Eldridge Thomas, Russell Thomas, and Rufus Thomas; three sisters: Linda Kowskia, Phillis Selles, and Janie Parish.
Survivors include two sons: Walter Thomas Hicks Jr. of Bluefield, Randall Eugene Hicks and wife, Belinda Gayle of Montcalm, W.Va.; a brother: James “Ted” Thomas and wife, Ginny of Florida; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hicks will be conducted Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Harold Simpson officiating. Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell. Serving as pallbearers will be family members and friends of the family.
Friends may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home today (Tuesday), October 16, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
