Frank E. “Frankie” Rhinehart Sr., 84, of Bluefield, W.Va., died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born March 15, 1928 in Charleston, W.Va., he was a son of the late William J. Rhinehart and Kate Thomas Rhinehart. He was a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Retired as a S/Sgt. from the U.S. Army Reserve. Mr. Rhinehart was also retired from the United States Postal Service as a route carrier where he was known as the whistling mailman. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Maple View, was an avid model train enthusiast and gardener. He was a member of the Bluefield-Mercer Lodge #85 A.F. & A.M.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Jeanne Akers Rhinehart of the home; three children, Frank E. Rhinehart Jr. and wife, Diana of Princeton, W.Va., David M. Rhinehart of Charleston, W.Va., and Kim Sigmon and husband, Richard of Princeton; five grandchildren, Chrissy Claypool and husband, Steve of Claypool Hill, Va., Aja Rhinehart of Princeton, Maria Jones and husband, Mike of Clarksville, Tenn., Adam Rhinehart and wife, Tiffany of Princeton, and Aaron Sigmon of Princeton; and six great-grandchildren.
A cryptside service will be conducted on Friday October 12, 2012 from the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 2 p.m. with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veteran's Council and the West Virginia Honor Guard.
