BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Estell Wayne Edwards, age 55, of 5691 Abbs Valley Road, Bluefield, Va. passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at home.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. He never complained.
Born on December 23, 1956 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Luke and Gladys Edwards.
He was preceded in death by one son, Estell Wayne Edwards Jr.; three brothers, Robert, Bill, and Wade Edwards; and his father-in-law, Donnie Anderson Sr.
He graduated from Pocahontas High School and was a former employee of Highland Propane in Green Valley. He also worked a lot for people and friends. Estell was a former member of Rescue 945 and the Abbs Valley Fire Dept. Estell coached little league baseball and enjoyed being with his son, Adam and all the children on his teams. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend.
Survivors include his loving and caring wife of 26 1/2 years, Rhonda Anderson Edwards of the home; special son who he was so proud of, Adam James Edwards of the home; sister, Karen Sue Houchins and husband, Larry of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; brother, Don Edwards of Bluefield, Va.; mother-in-law, Shirley Anderson of Abbs Valley, Va.; aunt, Beulah Evans of Squire, W.Va.; uncle, Bob Brewster of Bluefield, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Judy Anderson of Falls Mills, Va.; nieces he loved dearly, Arissa Anderson (his little girl) and Becky Houchins; special nephews, Troy Anderson (his special little pal) and Robbie Houchins.
Estell was blessed with special family and friends at Bluefield Family Medicine and several cousins who he cared for a lot. Special caregivers: Donnie Anderson and Jessica Dixon; special friends he loved dearly: Carlos Hess, Al and Sharyn Altizer, Bill and Sue Stone, Betty Marshall, Vincent and Susie Shumate, Keith and Lynn Scott, Clifford and Brenda Bowman, Margaret McCormick, Brenda and Ronnie Matthews, Ronnie and Lisa Hager, and Allison, and many, many more.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Carlos Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Gab Dawson, Alvin Dawson, Phillip Mathena, Daniel Scott and Keith Scott serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Edwards, Troy Anderson, Al Altizer and Donnie Anderson Jr.
Friends may call on Friday prior to the services, from 1:00-2:00 at the funeral home.
