FREDERICKSBURG, Va. —
Freda Grace Thompson, 84, of Fredericksburg, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Thompson was retired from Stafford County Schools. She was an avid gardener. Her heart was always with all children.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Preston Burton Thompson; her children, Preston G. Thompson, Bruce E. Thompson, Darrell L. Thompson, Sylvia Newsom and her husband, Steve; her sisters, Nicktie Goins and Madge Smith; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Burton Thompson.
A celebration of life will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
