PRINCETON —
Willie Sue “Susie” Morehead Thompson, 84, of Princeton, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Princeton Health Care Facility in Princeton.
Born April 14, 1928, in Princeton, where she lived her entire life, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Morehead and Maude Higginbotham Morehead.
Susie was a graduate of Princeton High School. She was a registered X-ray Technician, having received her training at the Bluefield Sanitarium where she worked until it closed. Susie then was employed at the Bluefield Clinic, and then at Princeton Community Hospital, from where she retired.
Susie was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church on Halls Ridge Road, Princeton, where she especially enjoyed being involved with the DMA Group, including traveling with them on special trips. Susie was devoted to her family, and took care of her mama for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Price Eugene Morehead and Robert L. Morehead Jr.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted and caring daughter, Sharon Gayle Jennings and her husband Ted of Camp Creek. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Theron Ottis Morehead of Virginia Beach, Va., Joseph Landon Morehead and wife Opal of Princeton, Betty Zane Tilley and husband Roy of Princeton; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Susie will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Dr. John King, and Pastors Jim Simmons and Jim Nofsinger officiating. Burial will follow in the McClaugherty Cemetery on the Black Oak Road near Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
