TAZEWELL, Va. —
Wilma L. Booth, age 80, of North Tazewell, Va., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Va. Born Nov. 20, 1931 in Horsepen, Va., she was a daughter of the late Luther Isaac and Bessie Virginia Waldron Murray. She was a member of the Adria Advent Christian Church where she had served as Sunday School Superintendent, and currently was serving as President of the Ruby McAmis Ladies Aide Ministry. Mrs. Booth was also a strong supporter of the church youth ministries. Throughout her illness, her days were made more comfortable and easier by the special help and care given by many volunteers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Booth Jr.; two brothers, Dorman and Herald Murray; and one sister, Margaret Daniel.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Chambers, of North Tazewell, Va. and Gilda B. Sheets and husband, Douglas, of Lynchburg, Va.; three sisters, Retha Witten and husband, Richard, of Vinton, Ky., Maxine Hess, of Tazewell, Va., and Martha Peters of Charleston, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Norman Sheets of Madison Heights, Va., and Heather Ball of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Ball, Isaac Ball, and Michael Ball.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Pastor Mark Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society 230 Charwood Drive, Abingdon, VA 24210 or Adria Advent Christian Church, 120 Cecil Drive, North Tazewell, VA 24630.
