Cletis Aubrey Marlin Jr.

LERONA — Cletis Aubrey Marlin Jr., 90, of Lerona, W.Va., formerly of Kansas City, Mo.,  passed away November 2, 2012 after a long and happy life.

Born November 13, 1921 in Decatur, Ill., he was the son of Nelle Stout Marlin and Cletis Aubrey Marlin Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances Clark Marlin. A World War II veteran, he served in the 498th Bomb Squadron of the United States Army Air Corps. He spent most of his military career in the Pacific Theater.

He retired from Western Electric, Overland Park, Kan. In retirement he enjoyed wood carving and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of John Knox Kirk in Kansas City where he sang in the choir for many years. He attended Concord United Methodist Church, Athens, W.Va. while residing in West Virginia.

Cletis is survived by his daughter, Sharon Marlin Manzo and husband Joseph Theodore Manzo; his sister, Jessie Marlin Webb; grandson, Bryan Joseph Manzo and wife Zoe McGuire Manzo; granddaughter, Kara Manzo Smith and husband Sean Kendall Smith; great-grandchildren, Charles Kendall Smith, Sofie June Smith, Luca Baz Manzo; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Military graveside rites will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Mount Moriah Cemetery with Pastor Terry Clark officiating. Friends may call one hour prior at the Mount Moriah Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Compassas, 120 Shaker Lane, Princeton, WV 24740 or Harmony House of West Virginia LLC, 6813 Old Hinton Road, Lerona, WV 25971, where he resided the last two years of his life.
