NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Stella Molly Howery, age 74, of the Pisgah area in North Tazewell, Va., died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Welmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
Born February 28, 1938 in Tazewell, Va., she was a daughter of the late Bill and Mary Asbury. She was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Howery was a wonderful, loving, sweet and 'ornery' little lady who loved cooking. She retired after nearly thirty years from Tazewell Community Hospital as Supervisor of Housekeeping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Roark; second husband, Glen Stuart “Chap” Howery; one son, Eddie Roark; one daughter, Brenda Ann Roark Cook; four brothers, Andrew Asbury, Albert Asbury, George Asbury, and Mose Asbury; four sisters, Virginia “Gin” Stilwell, Katherine “Sis” Blevins, Marie Vanhoozier, Mae Blevins, and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Howery who died the day before her on Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
She is survived by one son, Michael Roark of the home; two sisters, Martha Holmes of Richlands, Va. and Nellie Cregger of Tazewell, Va.; two grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn Paige and husband, Terry of Meadowview, Va. and Miranda Roark of Richlands, Va.; five great-grandchildren; lots of loving nieces and nephews; numerous stepsons and a stepdaughter, and many special friends; one special great-nephew, Dakota Cregger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Barry Absher officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley, Va. Jake Webb, Terry Paige, Mike Roark, and Richie Richardson will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.
