ROCKY GAP, Va. —
Emmett “Bud” Mitchem, 71, of 3437 Dry Fork Rd., Rocky Gap, Va. and formerly of Wolfe, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Anawalt, W.Va. and was a son of the late Nelson Mitchem and Hattie Tyler.
He had worked at many strip mines in his lifetime. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandparents who raised him, George and Rissie Mitchem of Big Branch, Va.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dena Popp Mitchem; son, Samuel Mitchem and wife Sirena of Rocky Gap, Va.; daughter, Elizabeth M. Hicks of Rocky Gap, Va. and fiancé Danny Quesinberry; grandchildren, Candace Mitchem and fiancé Matt Sadler, Sammy Mitchem and Amanda Shelton, T.J. Hicks and Emily Hicks; brothers, Jerry Mitchem and his wife, Larry Mitchem and wife of Falls Mills, Va.; sisters, Shirley Mitchem Crockett and husband Leon of Bluefield, Va., Brenda Matthews and husband Ronnie of Big Branch, Va.; close friends, Roger and Charlotte Mitchem of Big Branch, Va.
Funeral services will be held Monday night at 8:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. until the hour of services. Weather permitting, burial will be on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eddie Johnson, Eddie Johnson Jr., Jessie Littleton, Danny Quesinberry and his grandsons.
Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va. is serving the Emmett “Bud” Mitchem family.
