BLAND, Va. —
Mrs. Genettie Gladys Lockhart Hubbard, age 90, of Bland, Virginia, passed away Monday (February 25, 2013) in Blacksburg, Virginia. Born September 14, 1922 in Davenport, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Naomi Perkins Lockhart.
She had lived most of her life in the Swords Creek area, moving to Tazewell County in 1995. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith. She had a great host of family and extended family, all of whom birthdates and anniversaries she could quote without hesitation. Family was the most important thing in her life after her faith. Most of all, she loved to read her Bible.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde “Jabe” Hubbard; paternal grandparents, William Preston and Sarah Hess Lockhart; maternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Elizabeth Miller Perkins; four sisters, Nellie Miller, Thelma Miller, Freda Cordle, and Arbutus Plaster; two brothers, William Lee Lockhart and Allen Dee Lockhart; her lifelong special friend and father of her son, Edward M. Brown; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Becker Lockhart.
Survivors include one son, Fairley Lockhart and wife, Tricia Evans Lockhart of Bland; grandson, Yancey Lockhart and wife, Nikki of Dublin; granddaughter, Brandy Lockhart of Great Lakes, Illinois; two step-grandsons, Stephen Cason and Ryan Cason; step-granddaughter, Beverly Cason; step-great-grandchildren, Stephen Michael, Ethan, Brett, Syndie, and Jillian Cason; two sisters, Mae Richardson of Honaker and Evie Perkins of Richlands, Virginia; two brothers, Dallas Lockhart and wife, Lois of Honaker and Carter Lockhart and wife, Lolita of Swords Creek, Virginia; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great- nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with the Rev. Yul Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour Thursday.
