MOCKSVILLE, N.C. —
Carl Rufus Carter, age 71, of Mocksville, N.C., passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Davie County Hospital, Mocksville, N.C. Born November 20, 1940 at Oakvale, W.Va., he was the son of the late Arie Oakley and Virgie Clemons Carter. He had worked as a carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Carter; and one brother, Bud Lathan Carter.
Survivors include one son, Rufus Dean Carter; two brothers, James E. Carter and wife Linda of Peterstown, W.Va. and Carl Randolph Carter and wife Lizzie of Ballard, W.Va.; two sisters, Gussie Spangler and husband Pete of St. Cloud, Fla., Naomi Crosier and husband Bill of Winston-Salem, N.C.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February, 2, 2012 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va. with the Reverend John Offenberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Orchard Cemetery, Ballard, W.Va. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
