NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Ruby Helen Altizer, age 84, of North Tazewell, Virginia, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at her home. She was born in Tazewell County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Johnson Barnette. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a lifelong resident of the area and will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Altizer; one son, Leonard Altizer; one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by: Four daughters: Zana Asbury and husband, Irland of the Earls Branch section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, Molly Sparks and husband, Stanley of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, Leona Jackson of North Tazewell, Virginia, Tina Altizer of Tazewell, Virginia; two sons: Wade Altizer and wife, Pranee of Salt Lake City, Utah, Wayne Altizer and wife, Mary-Ann of Wildwood, Illinois. Eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild also survive along with a host of family and friends.
Funeral services for Ruby Helen Altizer will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Barnette officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Burial will be private. Kenneth Asbury, John-Luke Asbury, Jack Vance, Stanley Sparks, and Matthew Hutchinson will be serving as pallbearers.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. -9 p.m. on Thursday evening, March 21, 2013 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, 1401 Second Street, Richlands, Virginia 24641.
