Mary Burks
BURKE MOUNTAIN — Mary Burks age 87, of Burke Mt. near Keystone, W.Va. went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her home after a short illness.
Born April 2, 1925 in Pinnacle Creek, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alex Burks and Lillie Mullins Burks.
She was affiliated with the Church of God Faith, she was a homemaker, was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a resident of McDowell County most of her life. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by-her husband Felix F. Burks; one son, Homer Burks; one daughter Lucille Burks Green; three sisters and seven brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory: five sons, Thomas Burks and wife Jackie, of Salem, Va., Kermit Burks and wife Kaye, of Eckman, W.Va., Cecil Burks and wife Betty, of Burke Mt., Randall Burks and wife Carolyn, of Huddleston, Va., Larry Burks and wife Ellen, of Midway, W.Va.; three sister, Georgia Bailey, of Southpoint, Ohio, Lois Poff and husband, of Floyd County, Va., Maggie Moody and husband Gene; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 12:00 noon, at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Northfork, W.Va. with the Rev. Randy Green officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va. Friends may call Friday night at the Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
