KINGSPORT Tenn. —
Bill Mack Aldridge, age 70, of Kingsport, Tenn., passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Born Dec. 5, 1941 in Caretta, W.Va., he was a son of the late “Pa” Waits and “Ma” Sophia Aldridge. During his last illness his days were made more comfortable by the compassionate care given by Amedisys Hospice Care. In addition to his parents, his wife, Betty Shephard Aldridge preceded him in death.
He is survived by four children, Bill Aldridge of Linden, Va., Rob and Teresa Aldridge of Madison, Va., Jeff and Dana Aldridge of Collierville, Tenn., and Pam and Robert Darby of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three siblings, Frank Aldridge and his wife, Alease, of Tazewell, Va., Juanita “Toni” Clark of Kingsport, Tenn., and Carolyn Brooks of Erwin, Tenn.; six granddaughters, Megan Aldridge, Rebecca and Lindsey Aldridge, Anna Grace and Ashley Aldridge, and Katherine Darby; and several nieces and nephews. He was also expecting his first grandson, Benjamin Wade Darby, in October.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va., where funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. with Johnny Elmore and Kenny Gillespie officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. His sons will serve as pallbearers along with his son-in-law, Robert Darby, and nephews, Kevin Clark, David Clark, Barry Whitt, and Chris Dohnal. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Aldridge and Russell Anderson. Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
