FAIRMONT, Ga. —
Walter Reese Catron, 88, of Nottingham Way in Fairmont, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at his residence. Born Oct. 21, 1924 in Five Oaks, Va., he was the son of the late John E. Catron and Lucille Duncan Catron. Walter was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 22 years service and Lockheed Aviation in Marietta, Ga. with 17 years service. During his military career he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Lodge. He was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary F. Carroll Catron; one son, Walter R. Catron Jr.; two daughters, Joyce Marie Birch and Beverly Lynn Hankins; and two brothers, Arnold A. Catron and Everette J. Catron.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Jean May and husband, John, of Mobile, Ala.; two sons, David Catron of Shandong Province, China, and Richard Scott Catron of Calhoun, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Rob Catron and wife, Letha, of Princeton; and one sister, Loretta Humplick and husband, Raymond, of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Ed Pettus officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley with the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council conducting military graveside rites. Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Catron II, Ben Gay, Tracy Lusk, Zachery Lusk, Josh Lusk, and John Mark Verne'. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Friday.
