Doris Hurst Turney Andrews
BURLINGTON, N.C. — Mrs. Doris Hurst Turney Andrews, 91, formerly of 215 Williamson Avenue, Elon, N.C., died at Edgewood Place on Friday, May 4, 2007, at 6:35 p.m.
A native of Mercer County, she was the wife of the late Claude D. Turney and James Weldon Andrews and the daughter of Fred Hurst and Dolly Harmon Hurst, both deceased. She was a retired textile employee. She was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church and the Macie May Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Janet T. Troxler and husband Earl of Burlington; one son, Mr. Troy H. Turney and wife Cornelia of Burlington; one stepson, Mr. Ed Andrews and wife Beverly of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Mr. Don Hurst and wife Peggy of Burlington, and Mr. Paul Hurst and wife June of Charmco; seven grandchildren, Rick Troxler, Teresa T. Rudd, Donna T. Moricle, Barry Turney, Tammy T. Page, Craig Turney, and Greg Turney; one step-granddaughter, Lisa Andrews; and six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Rudd, Phillip Rudd, Hope Troxler, James Moricle Jr., Trea Turney, and Jordan Page.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Lydia Newell, Mrs. Dot Pyles, Mrs. Clare Isley, Mrs. Grace Love, and Mrs. Eunice Ward, and one brother, William Hurst.
The funeral will be conducted at Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, May 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John Shields. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington today from 6 until 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Janet Troxler, 429 Spring Valley Drive, Burlington, and at the residence of the son, Troy H. Turney, 3848 Danieley Water Wheel Road, Burlington.

Henry G. Beam
PRINCETON — Henry G. Beam, 76, of Garden Oaks, Princeton, died early Sunday morning, April 29, 2007, at the Cassell’s Personal Care Home on South Avenue in Princeton.
Born Dec. 28, 1930 at McMinnville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Henry C. and Wilma Martin Beam. Henry graduated from Tullahoma High School in Tullahoma, Tenn. For many years, Henry and his family held business interests in Huntsville, Ala. In 1973, Henry and his family moved to Princeton, purchased ownership and became the general manager of WAEY-1490 AM until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Princeton. Henry was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1459 Princeton and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1521, Princeton. He had served on the Board of Directors for the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce. Henry was instrumental in the formation of the Princeton Chapter of AA. Henry was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, he truly loved his family. He was an avid traveler, for many years he and his family and close friends traveled together all across our country.
Survivors include his loving, caring and devoted wife of 57 years, Peggy Pratt Beam; three children, Marsha Ruth Guard of Knoxville, Tenn., William Mark Beam and wife Patricia of Greenville, S.C., Marty Dee Beam and wife Robyn Johnston-Beam of Apex, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jason Thomas Guard, Patrick Beam and Sara Presley Beam; one great grandchild, Riley Thomas Guard; one brother, Tommy R. Beam and wife Wilma of Shelbyville Tenn.; and a host of friends.
On May 7, 2007 at 7 p.m., we will celebrate the life of Mr. Henry G. Beam with a service of celebration from First Baptist Church on Mercer Street in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery, Pastor Norm Arrington and Pastor Paul Hall officiating. The family has honored Mr. Beam’s request. His body has been cremated. Following the service, a celebration and reception will be held in the fellowship hall where friends may share memories with the family.

Thomas Herbert Cline
NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. — Thomas Herbert Cline, 80, of North Tazewell, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his home.
Born Aug. 7, 1926 in McDowell County, he was a son of the late Thomas Gordon and Ella Stowers Cline. He was a retired parts manager for the former Kilgore Motors and Robinette Chevrolet. He was a veteran of World War II and a charter member of Barn-Beavers V.F.W. Post No. 7136 of Tazewell, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Neeley Cline and three infant brothers.
Survivors include one son, Steven C. Cline and one sister, Blanche Cowan of Bandy, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Robert Buckles officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va.

Mrs. Lenora K. Comer
PRINCETON — Mrs. Lenora K. Comer, 89, of RR 04 (Addair Run Road) near Princeton, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va., surrounded by family and friends.
Born Sept. 20, 1917 in Richwood, she was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Bessie Elizabeth Harvey Amos. Mrs. Comer graduated from Richwood High School.
Lenora was a member of the Glen Lyn Church of Christ. She was very active in the church, she especially enjoyed her Ladies’ Sunday School Class. Some of her favorite pastimes included sitting on her porch swing and watching the hummingbirds and going shopping with the ladies of the church. Mrs. Comer always enjoyed being surrounded by her large and loving family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Comer Sr.; one son, Charles E. Comer; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Comer; along with four brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her loving memory, her children, Raymond (Junior) H. Comer and wife Geneva of Ft. Washington, Md., William (Billy) Comer and wife Patricia of Pearisburg, James (Jimmy) Comer and wife Janet of Clemmons, N.C., Nancy Long of Princeton, Linda Taylor of Summersville, Susie Wilson and husband Rick of Princeton, Betty Bennett and husband Phillip of Princeton; daughter in law, Phyllis Comer of Princeton; brother, Eugene Amos of Warrington, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces, and several special friends from the church.
On Monday, May 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., we will celebrate the home going of Mrs. Lenora Comer at the Glen Lyn Church of Christ, Glen Lyn, Va., with Eddie Jones and Danny Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Courthouse Road in Princeton.

BLUEFIELD — Tondelayo La Donna Fowler, 35, of Bluefield, departed this life on May 1, 2007 at Charleston Area Medical Center.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1972 in Bluefield. She was a member of Northside United Holiness Church in Bluefield. She attended school in Switchback and Roanoke, Va.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. George W. Bowdel and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Fowler Sr.
Those left to cherish her memories include her mother, Vertie J. Leva June (Ridenour) Mickle
VISTA, Calif. — Leva June (Ridenour) Mickle, 75, Vista, and Princeton, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at her home in Vista.
Born June 24, 1931 in Princeton, and graduated Princeton Senior High School Class of 1949. She lived in Vista during the winter months and spent the summer months at her home in Princeton.
Leva June is survived by her husband, George Mickle of Vista; sons, George Mickle Jr. of San Diego, Calif., Brian Mickle and Jeffrey Mickle, both of Vista; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ken Barnes of Oceanside, Calif.; sister, Joan Ridenour of Fairmont; stepmother, June Ridenour of Princeton; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. today, May 6, at Woodland Park Bible Church, 1093 Rock Springs Road, San Marcos, Calif. A private cremation and interment are planned.

Velma B. Scott
BURKE MOUNTAIN — Velma B. Scott, 79, of Burke Mountain near Keystone, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 4, 2007, at the residence of her daughter in Poca after a long illness.
Born Dec. 27, 1927 in Kanawha County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Inez Angel. She was a member of the Burke Baptist Church, Keystone, where she will always be remembered as a great prayer warrior. She was a graduate of Northfork High School, she was a homemaker, was a resident of Burke Mountain most of her life, and was loved by everyone who knew her.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Benjamin “Payton” Scott on Oct. 27, 1997; one son, Jerry Edward Scott on April 11, 2006; one sister, Francis Green; and a daughter in law, Brenda Scott.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Rhodes of Poca; four sons, Larry Scott and wife Betty of Burke Mountain, Johnny Scott of Burke Mountain, Gary Scott and wife Marti of Crumpler, Mark Scott and wife Anna of Bluefield; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; several half brothers and sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Northfork, with the Rev. Ralph Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Belcher Cemetery on Burke Mountain near Keystone.

Blaine A. Worrell
MIAMISBURG, Ohio — Blaine A. Worrell, 77, of Miamisburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2007, at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Worrell was born on Nov. 25, 1929 in Spanishburg. Mr. Worrell served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1950 and also in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. After his service in the military, Mr. Worrell attended and earned his bachelors degree in education from Concord College in Athens. After graduation, he devoted much of his life to educating others by teaching for more than 30 years. He retired from teaching in 1989 from the Dayton Board of Education and Patterson Co-Op High School.
Mr. Worrell was preceded in death by an infant son and daughter; his father and mother, Vernal and Mary (Ferguson) Worrell; brothers, Floyd Worrell and Bill Worrell; stepmother, Francis (Abshire) Worrell.
Mr. Worrell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 56 years, Mrs. Mary (Cook) Worrell; son, Ronald (Susie) Worrell; daughter, Cathy Worrell (Fred) Paugh, all of Miamisburg; five grandchildren, Mandy (Jason) Black, Matthew (Lisa) Worrell, Michael Paugh, Micah (Cassie) Worrell, Megan Paugh; three great-grandchildren, Landon Worrell, Emily Worrell and Alexis Black. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard (Mary) Worrell of Princeton, Gene (Shirley) Worrell of Stanton, Va., and Larry (Ella May) Worrell of Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Linda (Steve) Kidd of Princeton and Brenda Hites of LaGrange, Ky.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007, from Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, 508 E. Linden Ave., Miamisburg, with the Rev. Jan Toft officiating. Interment in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg.
