BURKE’S GARDEN, Va. —
Our beloved wife and mother, Eleanor Ann Lafferty McCann, age 67, of Burke's Garden, Va. was called home on February 16, 2013 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born September 19, 1945 in Thompson Valley, Va., she was a daughter of the late Grant and Ruth Lafferty of Thompson Valley, Va.
Eleanor was a giving soul that dearly loved her home community of Burke's Garden and was an active member of the Burke's Garden Community Association. She was a devout member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Tazewell, Va. Eleanor will be greatly missed by all. The devotion and compassion shown by the doctors, nurses, and staff of the UVA Medical Center during their time of caring for her helped to make this time easier for her and her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, JC McCann; her sons and their wives, Tony and Machelle of Fancy Gap, Va., Jeff and Beth of Kernersville, N.C., and Andy and Robin of Burke's Garden, Va.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kayla, Cassidi, Derek, Blake, Hannah, and Maddie; brothers and their wives, Gerald and Madeleine Lafferty, Jim and Barbara Lafferty, and Richard and Sharon Lafferty, and sister, Debbie Lafferty Eastridge; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close family friends.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel with Father Louie Benoit and the Reverend Rodney Lawson officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Tony McCann, Jeff McCann, Andy McCann, James Eastridge, David Anthony, Adam Eastridge, Jared Baker, and Chris Lawson. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Lafferty, Jim Lafferty, Richard Lafferty, Eli Jones, and Charles Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Burke's Garden Fire Department, 4230 Does Mill Rd, Tazewell, VA 24651 or Burke's Garden Community Association, 475 Greever Ridge Rd, Tazewell, VA 24651.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.peerystclairfuneralhome.com
