BLUEFIELD — Mark Bailey, 89, of Bluefield, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, February 11, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born January 19, 1924 at Panther, he was the son of the late Patterson Bailey and Nancy Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Princeton and attended the First Church of God in Princeton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a medic during World War II in Germany. He retired from Olgo Coal Company and was a coal miner for 43 years. He was a member of the UMWA. He was a farmer and a logger and was an outdoorsman. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Florence Faye Bailey in 2006; two sons, Terry Gene Bailey and Carl Larry Bailey; 9 siblings; and one great-grandson, Josh Bailey.
Survivors include four grandchildren, including Terri Lynn Bailey and Brett Elizabeth Bailey who were his caregivers; six great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandson; two daughters-in-law; and special friend, Nancy Mann of Princeton.
Honoring his request, the body has been cremated. There will be no services at the funeral home.
