Nellie Hamer Harsanyi Smith, 89, of Harrison St., Princeton died early Tuesday morning, February 12, 2013 at her home.
Born October 2, 1923, at Price Hill, she was the daughter of the late James Hamer and Nellie Stockton Hamer, who migrated from Lancashire County, Kearsley England.
Nellie was a devoted wife, mother, grandparent, homemaker and Christian. While living in Northfork, she was a founding member of the Burke Baptist Church in Keystone. She was very active and had served in many capacities within the church, a former Sunday school teacher, the church pianist, and sang in a trio. She will be most notably remembered for her missions work in serving the Lord by having witnessed to many. Through this witness and works, she had a great influence on many families finding the Lord.
She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church on Oakvale Road in Princeton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Harsanyi Jr.; her second husband Mark H. Smith; along with a son, Frank D. Harsanyi, and two sisters Dorothy Hamer Brown and Ann Jane (Jennie) East Cyphers.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three children, Jean Evelyn Smith and husband Joe, Doris Ann Sherman and John Robert Harsanyi and wife Joan all of Princeton; eight grandchildren Katherine Trout and husband John, Mark Stephen Smith, JoZett Cooper and husband Brian, Dee Anna Davis and fiancé Jack Miller, David Allan Davis, John Edward Harsanyi and wife Demetra, Joseph Wayne Harsanyi and wife Wendy, and Jeffrey Shane Harsanyi; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Hamer and wife Zetta of Jacksonville Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Nellie Harsanyi Smith will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at Maranatha Baptist Church on Oakvale Road in Princeton with Pastor Marvin Mills and Pastor Youel Altizer officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark S. Smith, David A. Davis, John E. Harsanyi, Jeffrey S. Harsanyi, Joseph W. Harsanyi, and David E. Trout. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay M. Cooper, Corey S. Harsanyi, and J. Tyler Harsanyi.
