PRINCETON —
Patricia Faye Harvey Price Goodman, 49, of Princeton, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 with her family by her side singing “I'll Fly Away.” Born October 1, 1963 in Williamson, she was the daughter of William Harvey and Elitha Thompson Harvey of Princeton.
One of her favorite scriptures was, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress. My God in Him I will trust.” Psalm 91:2. Patty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield. Patty just wanted to go “home” after fighting fiercely against the cancer that took her life. She graduated with a degree from West Virginia University and was an avid Mountaineer fan. She briefly taught special education in the McDowell County school system and later began a nursing career after becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William and Gertrude Harvey Sr.; maternal grandparents, George and Elizabeth Thompson and Elmer and Elitha Smith.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children, whom she loved dearly, Courtney Nicole Price of Morgantown and Trevor Andrew Goodman and Jacob Aaron Goodman both of the home; her siblings, Danni Lynn Harvey and her companion Dwayne “Bear” Del Hotal and Anita Harvey Anderson all of Princeton and Jeff Harvey and his wife Krista of Rocky Mount, Va.; a very special cousin, Diane “Dee Dee” Velten of Baltimore, Md.; and a large, extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1003 Wyoming Street, Bluefield, with Celebrant Father Paul Wharton officiating. Interment will follow at the New Zion Cemetery in Princeton.
Serving as pallbearers will be sons Trevor and Jacob Goodman, nephews John Anderson, William Watson and Matthew Connelly and cousin David Faidley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Bluefield.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 4, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m.
