LASHMEET —
Ethel Irene Shrewsbury, 90, of Abita Springs, La., formerly of Lashmeet, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Louisiana. Born July 6, 1922 at Dott, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Graham and Rinda Meadows Graham.
She was a lifelong resident of Mercer County, except for the last 10 years where she lived in Abita Springs, La. with her loving daughter, Letha, who cared for her. She was a Christian for many years and was baptized in the Kent Lilly fish pond on Stovall Ridge. She loved cooking, making fruit cakes, canning, doing embroidery, sewing and collecting plates and bells.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Shrewsbury; two sons, Blaine Shrewsbury and Arnett Shrewsbury; one grandson, Larry Shrewsbury; five brothers, Oliver, James, Larry, Terry and Jerry Graham; three sisters, Francis Lumbardo, Lillian Shrewsbury and Vera Honn.
Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Letha Smith of Abita Springs, La., Carol Proffitt and husband Larry of Camp Creek; two sons, Connie Shrewsbury and wife Ellen of Lashmeet and Dean Shrewsbury and wife Paula of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sisters, Juanitta Gray of Lashmeet and Maricia Fear of California: 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Ralph Calfee officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Monday, January 14 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
