Virginia Looney Phlegar

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Virginia Looney Phlegar, 91, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, formerly of Princeton, died early Sunday morning, January 6, 2013 at her home. At her side were her daughters, Linda and Gayle.

Virginia was born in Bland County, Virginia, to Lincoln and Ada Wolfe Looney in September 1921.

Virginia married Hearl Phlegar on November 18, 1939.

She had lived in Roanoke, Virginia and Princeton, West Virginia prior to her move to Florida in 1975. While living in Princeton, she was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and a friend of the Altamonte Chapel, Altamonte Springs, Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hearl Phlegar; her brothers, Thurman and Donald; her sisters, Mary Looney and Jane Looney Hall; and her son-in-law, Steve Harvey.

She will be sadly missed by her family. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Mills and husband Bob and Gayle Harvey; grandchildren, Rob Mills and wife Diane, Conrad Duncan and wife Sharon, Tony Duncan and wife Sheri, Nicole Shimmick and husband Brian; great-grandchildren Kyle and Kaley, Deanna and Marlena, Molly and Sam; her sister, Violet Farmer and husband Willard; a brother-in-law, Hubert Hall; two sisters-in-law, Anna Looney and Bea Looney; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

A time of gathering and sharing will be held Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
