PRINCETON —
Carmen Lee Sigmon Wimmer, 63, of Shade Tree Circle (Maple Acres) Princeton, died late Monday evening, Dec. 31, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 18, 1949, at Bluefield, and was the daughter of the late Harry Lee Sigmon and Ruth Ellen Tabor Sigmon. Carmen was a graduate of Princeton High School class of 1967 and received her Bachelor's Degree in education from Bluefield State College.
Carmen was employed by the Mercer County School Board for the past 12 years, having last taught at the Bluefield Middle School. She loved teaching and challenging her students in learning about World and West Virginia History. She was a member of the Ceres Baptist Church and had attended the Maranatha Baptist Church in Princeton. While her health permitted, she loved to travel throughout the world and really enjoyed going to the beach with her family. While traveling, she was afforded the privilege of eating fine foods and enjoyed finding new places to eat. At the drop of a hat, she was always ready and willing to go shopping. Carmen was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and educator.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Aaron (Ox) Wimmer.
She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted and loving daughter, Ramona Wimmer Waters and husband Geoff of Winchester, OH; two granddaughters whom she adored, Haley Crews and Erin Waters; two step-grandchildren, Josh and Jessica Waters; six siblings and their spouses, Andra Gail Andrews and husband Wyatt of VacaVille, Calif., Vickie Shorter of Princeton, Laura Whiteside and husband Gary of Raleigh, N.C., Todd Sigmon and wife Yvonne of Bastian, Va., Greg Sigmon of Princeton, and Tammy Lucas and husband Joseph of Raleigh, N.C.; and special friends, Jeanette Murphy and Johnny Thomason. She had a host of nieces, nephews and many, many friends who dearly loved her.
Services to celebrate the life of Carmen will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor James Mooney officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. A time of gathering and sharing will be held Saturday from noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
