BRISTOL, Tenn. —
Russell John Phillips, 49, of Bristol, Tenn., formerly of Abbs Valley, Va., died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at his home. Born May 16, 1962 at Wayne, Mich., he was a son of the late Lacy Lee Phillips and Marie Fredricka Talbot Phillips. He was a graduate of Pocahontas High School. Mr. Phillips enjoyed working on and restoring old cars. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Pamela Jones and his paternal grandparents, Russell and Frances Boothe.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Lynn Phillips; two sons, John Derrick Phillips and wife, Tammy Renee of Pocahontas, Va., and Travis Lee Phillips of Bristol, Tenn. and girlfriend, Krystal Diane Britt; stepson, Brandon Keith Blevins of Boston, Mass.; one brother, Dennis Lee Phillips and wife, Deborah of Roswell, Ga.; one sister, Daris Hodge and husband, Mike of Abbs Valley, Va.; two grandchildren, Rebecca Gail Phillips and John Derrick Phillips Jr.; several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Brother Dennis Wayne Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Danny Delida, David Gross, David Duggin, Gary Short, Jayson Mitchem, and Gary Cooper.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012.
