GRUNDY, Va. —
Pauline Elizabeth Garrett Taylor, 82, of Convict Hollow Road, Grundy, Va. went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at the Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, Va. Born on March 6, 1929 in War, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Claude and Doris Whitt Garrett. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith and was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Pauline was a former employee of Food City where she worked as Floral and Deli Manager. She was an alto singer for several Gospel Quartets, loved watching gospel television programs, but most of all loved her children and grandchildren and spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayse Harding Taylor; son, Gary W. Taylor, June 2, 2000; brother, Eual Ermon Garrett.
She is survived by her daughter, the Reverend Deborah Paulette Dotson and husband, Gary of Grundy, Va.; sons, Wesley F. Taylor of Bristol, Tenn., Randy D. Taylor of Grundy, Va. and fiancé, Patsy Lockhart of Harman, Va.; special family friend, Joe Hicks of Bristol, Tenn.; sisters, Betty Lois McCoy of Maxie, Va., Shirley Horn of Pounding Mill, Va.; brothers, Herman Garrett of Cumberland Gap, Va., and Roger Garrett of Greensboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, Chad Owens and wife, Angela of Abingdon, Va., April Breimann of Bristol, Tenn., Nathan Taylor of Abingdon, Va, Renee Taylor of Virginia Beach, Va., Austin Taylor of Roanoke, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Autumn Grace Owens, Robbie Breimann, and Christopher Elijah Owens.
Funeral Services for Pauline Elizabeth Garrett Taylor will be conducted Tuesday evening, Feb. 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Va. with the Reverend Wade McGeorge officiating. Committal services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at the Forrest Hills Mausoleum Chapel, Abingdon, Va. at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the mausoleum from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the committal hour. Active pallbearers will be Gary Dotson, Paul Horn, Marty Garrett, Chad Owens, Joe Hicks and Hezzie McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Robey Coleman, Maxine Perry, Dr. Clint Sutherland, Edd and Jean Addington, Beulah Shortridge, Elaine Clevinger, Dr. Gregory Casey and Dr. Martinez.
The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Va, Tuesday evening after 6:00 p.m. prior to the funeral hour at 7:00 p.m.
