DORAN, Va. —
Marie Antoinette McCowan, age 74, of Doran, Va., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 in Wytheville, Va. following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Dickinson County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Pearl Reedy Perrigan. Marie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a full-time homemaker and loved taking care for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl McCowan; sister, Shirley Puckett and her brother, Clayton Perrigan and an infant brother.
Those who survive her are: Her sons: Tom McCowan and wife Misty of Pennington Gap, Va., Mark McCowan and wife Teresa of Wardell, Va.; daughter: Peggy Spence of Tazewell, Va.; sisters: Charlotte Rose of Newport News, Va., Brenda Estep of Wardell, Va., Emma McKinney of Clintwood, Va.; brother: Clyde Perrigan of Trammel, Va. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Sam McCowan, Andy McCowan, Morgan McCowan, Baylei McCowan and Lisa Spence; three great-grandchildren, Haiden McCowan, Bentley Cline and Paisley Cline along with several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services for Marie Antoinette McCowan will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va. with the Rev. Jerry Vitatoe officiating. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Va. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
