LYNCHBURG, Va. — Leftridge Layne “Lad” Goodwin, Jr., 54, of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, March 14 from esophageal cancer. Known as “Lad“ to his many friends and family members, he was born in Quantico, Va., and during his life lived in Huntington, W.Va., Syracuse, N.Y., Tazewell, Blacksburg, and Lynchburg, Va. He attended the McCarthy School in Syracuse, and was a graduate of Sheffield Elementary School and the ARC School in Lynchburg. He was a member of Euclid Christian Church in Lynchburg. For fifty-four years, Lad brought joy and unconditional love to everyone who knew him, and was an inspiration to many, with a bright smile and a hearty laugh. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his parents, Leftridge and Mary Lou Goodwin; his sister, Debbie and husband Chip Parkins; brother, Brian and wife Lynne Goodwin; sister, Stephanie Goodwin; three nephews, Anthony Goodwin, Clifford Parkins and Charles Parkins; and grandmother, Mable Goodwin.
