Frank Tyler Easley, 90, formerly of Linden Street, Bluefield, W.Va., died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Loving Hands Assisted Living in Bluefield.
Born April 7, 1922 in Bluefield, W.Va., he was a son of the late Frank Smoot Easley and Elizabeth Tyler Easley. Mr. Easley was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Bluefield where he was Trustee Emeritus. He was a graduate of Beaver High School and attended Kentucky Military Institute. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II on the island of Guam. He spent the latter part of his service in the Ashford Military Hospital at the Greenbrier Hotel.
Mr. Easley worked in the coal business for many years. After his retirement, he pursued his dream and became a professional photographer. Many of the team and cheerleader pictures he shot still hang on the walls of both Graham High School and Bluefield High School.
Mr. Easley was a Paul Harris Fellow and member of the Bluefield Rotary Club for 64 years. He was Sergeant of Arms for over 20 years, and was Trustee Emeritus at Bluefield College.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Vest Easley.
Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca and husband John P. Beckett Jr. of Bluefield, W.Va.; grandson, Preston Tyler Beckett and Stephanie and children Christopher and Savannah of Huntersville, N.C., grandson, Keith Scott Beckett of Bluefield, and grandson, Anthony Edward Beckett and Patsy and Angel of Bluefield; Angel Bailey and caregivers at Loving Hands Assisted Living.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Monte Vista Park Cemetery with Mother Mary Lou Mannschreck officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Mercer Funeral Home on Wednesday by 10:30 a.m. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council.
Serving as pallbearers will be Herman Bressler, Dr. Wayne Massey, Abel Solademi, Jim Justice, Dr. David Olive, John Shott, John Ayers and Bruce Puckett. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Carroll, Mel Grubb, Ron Townley, and members of the Bluefield Rotary Club.
The family will receive guests at the home of John and Becky Beckett, 1500 College Avenue, Bluefield, W.Va. on Tuesday, October 30th from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
