TAZEWELL, Va. —
John Henry Brown, age 76, of the Thompson Valley community in Tazewell, Va., died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Welmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. Born December 31, 1935 in Tazewell, Va., he was a son of the late Reese W. Brown and Mary Lambert Brown. He was a member of the Thompson Valley Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon and elder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gertie Deels; three brothers, Bill Tom Brown, Charlie Brown, and Joseph Kenneth Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Brown; one son, John H. Brown Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Tazewell, Va.; one daughter, Tammy Taylor and husband, Rick of Tazewell, Va.; two brothers, Reese Brown and wife, Pauline of Tazewell, Va. and Robert Brown and wife, Darlene of Adamstown, Md.; four sisters, Ruth Angles and Maggie Phillips and husband, Jerry all of Tazewell, Va., Sue Smith of Fincastle, Va., and Jenny Webb and husband, Bill of Bluefield, Va.; six grandchildren, Rebecca Brown, Megan Brown, Kayla Brown, Kendra Taylor, Rachel Taylor, and Chase Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Pastor Danny Whitt officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va. Pallbearers will be Gary Powers, Curtis Lane, James Wright, Larry Brown, Larry Brown Jr., and Robbie Brown.
