GARY —
Mrs. S. Ophelia Pannell, 85, of Gary, W.Va. went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, in Roanoke, Va. following a short illness.
She was born September 27, 1927 in Grassy Creek, N.C., and the second of seven children born to the late Vince T. Wolfe Sr. and Laura Rose Byrd Roberts Wolfe. Ophelia spent most of her life in Gary, W.Va. and a graduate of Gary District High School. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late James Pannell. Ophelia was a very kind hearted lady and would do anything she could to assist mankind. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Wilcoe, W.Va.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three of her sisters: Ola Mae Wolfe, Josephine Divens and Hazel Jones.
Ophelia leaves to carry on her legacy, one son, Harold (Theresa) Wolfe of Gary, W.Va.; two sisters, Beverly J. Wolfe of Gary, W.Va. and Gwen Latham of Westbury, N.Y.; one brother, Vince T. Wolfe Jr. of Gary, W.Va.; a niece, Lyvonne (Rev. Ronald) Dyer of Gary, W.Va.; a nephew, Charles (Minnie) Jones of Charleston, W.Va., and a host of additional nieces, nephews and other relatives; also two special friends, Gail Lawson of Wilcoe, W.Va. and Betty Wiley of Bluefield, W.Va.
Homegoing Services for Mrs. Pannell will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Wilcoe with the Rev. David Cooper, officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, W.Va.
Relatives and friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until time of service on Saturday at the church.
