SPRING HILL, Fla. —
Sybil G. Wood went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the HPH Hospice House in Spring Hill, Fla. with her loving daughters by her side.
She had been living in Florida with her daughter, Ella Rae and son-in-law, Leroy since last December. Up until her illness, Sybil enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her hobbies of crocheting, oil painting, cooking and camping. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. Before moving to Princeton from Beckley in 1954, she was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and an active member of the women's circle, youth programs and the choir where she was a soloist. After moving to Princeton, she became a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton and was active in her Sunday school class, women's circles and youth programs until her husband, Arvil became ill. She always enjoyed doing crafts with the youth and continued this love with her grandchildren.
Sybil was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Arvil Clifford Wood; her beloved grandson, Chris Wall; son-in-law, Gradie Lamb Jr.; mother, Chloe Farley Harvey; father, David Henderson Harvey; four brothers, Herman Harvey, Paul Harvey, Homer Harvey and Robert 'Bob' Harvey; four sisters, Ellen Lewis, Sadie Page, Eula McGrath and Ruth Holding.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Ella Wood Laxton and her husband, Leroy; daughter, Nancy Wood Lamb; grandson, Gregory Laxton and wife, Cynthia; grandson, Scott Wall and wife, Diane and four great-grandchildren, Caleb Wall, Hailey Wall, Levi Laxton and Logan Laxton; sister-in-law, Theodosia Estep; brother-in-law, Alvin Wood and wife, Wavalene; sister-in-law, Janice Harvey; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, October 16th, 2012, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton.
A funeral service to honor her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
