BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Mrs. Oneatha G. Williams of Bluefield, Va., went home to her Heavenly Father Sunday morning, October 7, 2012 following an extended illness with her family at her side.
She was born on May 13, 1932, in Gary, W.Va., to the late Reverend Thomas and Mrs. Lillie Reed Goins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Williams; three brothers, Marvin, Robert and Eugene Goins; and two sisters, Alma Spivey and Thelma Walker.
She was a dedicated member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Bluefield, Va., and served in the capacities of Church Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Trustee, Choir member, and she was a dedicated member of Bible Study. She was a retired employee of Sears.
She will always be remembered for her love of planting flowers and greeting passersby from the comfort of her porch. She loved to shop and surrounded herself with beautiful things--so much like herself. She had a special gift for coordinating family gatherings and knew how to throw a backyard barbecue that the whole family fondly anticipated. She was exceptional at sewing and crochet.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, LaTanya Williams of Huntington and Mrs. Stephanie (James III) Palmer of Bluefield, Va.; one granddaughter, Taya Williams of Frankfort, Ky.; three grandsons, Staff Sgt. James J. Palmer IV (Trust) of Baltimore, Md., Jared Palmer of Bluefield, Va., and Jason Palmer of Williamsburg, Va.; one great-grandson, Josiah Palmer of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Michael (Gloria) Goins of Bluefield, Va., and Otho J. Goins of Bluefield, Va., who was very close and dear to her heart, who also spent a considerable amount of time attending to her needs and was always willing to do whatever she asked; an uncle, Thomas Reed (Shirley) of Bluefield; two special longtime friends, Tishie Myers of Northfork and Nellie Saunders of Bluefield; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be conducted today (Saturday), October 13, 2012, at noon at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Bluefield, Va., with Pastor Donald Gibson officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell.
