June B. Onifer, 82, of Bluewell School Road, Bluefield, W.Va. passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, W.Va. June was born on Monday, June 17, 1929 in Fieldale, Va. to the late William Hubert and Elizabeth Merriman Beavers. June had been a resident of Bluewell for the past 50 years and was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church. She was also involved with the Order of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Women, Dorcus Circle, Loyaletts, and was a member of the Quilters club. June was a graduate of Elkhorn High School and Jefferson College of Nursing in Roanoke, Va. where she completed her RN degree. June worked for Bluefield Sanitarium, Mercer County Department of Health, and was the director of Nursing at Glenwood Retirement Village. She also worked for Dr. John Yost and Dr. Norman Vaughan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Onifer Jr.; one grandson, Nicholas Beaman; and one sister, Lois Dunagan.
Left to cherish her memory are, one son, J. Michael Onifer and Barbara of Bluefield, W.Va.; one daughter, Pam Beaman and husband, Roger of Princeton, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Caitlin Beaman of Princeton, W.Va.; special sister-in-law, Joyce Lyons and husband, Glen of Richmond, Va.; special niece, Leslie Dunagan of Martinsville, Va., several other nieces; and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Bluewell United Methodist Church in Bluewell, W.Va. where the Reverend Stephen Rector and the Reverend D. Homer Stewart will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Princeton, W.Va. where Tom Copolo, Keith Mitchell, Kevin Crane, Jack Lilly, Mike Carter, Chuck Lawless, Shane Norris, and Curtis Vaughan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Norris and Richard East.
Friends and family may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
