Sister Pearson was a 1975 graduate of Bluefield State, an Alpha Nu Zeta Phi Beta and Eastern Star and Herons of Jericho Lodge #3. She worked at Bluefield State in the Bookstore for several years; she retired later as a Reference Clerk in the Bluefield State Library. After retirement she went back to work as Lead Teacher for CASE Head Start.
Family was her most Loved Blessing from GOD, there was nothing like being a Wife, Mother, and Grandmother; she was known by all from the first to the fifth generation as “MOTHER”. Her second Love was her church Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a faithful member for over 43 years. She was appointed as an Usher, and she served in that position for almost as many years as she was a member; when she became too weak to usher, she would sit in the back at the Ushers desk overseeing.
Mother was experiencing dementia, her physical health was good, but a month ago we found out that she had pancreatic cancer (stage 3); to our surprise her time wasn’t long. As in Psalm 90:10 “THE DAYS OF OUR YEARS ARE THREESCORE YEARS AND TEN; (70) AND IF BE REASON OF STRENGTH THEY BE FOURSCORE YEARS (80), YET IS THEIR STRENGTH LABOR AND SORROW; FOR IT IS SOON CUT OFF AND WE FLY AWAY”; Mother was blessed to be given nine (9) years over the promise of GOD. During her last days she would say “I’M READY TO GO HOME”.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Church with the Bishop Clarence Moore officiating. Entombment will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 until service time at the church.
