FAIRMONT —
Irene H. Parker, 86, of Fairmont, formerly of Welch, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Morgantown.
Born June 2, 1926 in Clell, Va., she was the daughter of the late Roy L. Hale and Mary E. Hale. She was a graduate of Garden High School and Johnson City Business College, and was a retired bank teller with the MCNB Banks in Welch. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Welch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. “Bill” Parker and her stepmother, Eva Hale.
Those left to cherish her memory are a son, John Wise Parker and wife Julie of Fairmont; a daughter, Mary E. Hutchinson and husband Rufus of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Katy Jo Gale of Nellysford, Va., Barbara Sutherland of Grundy, Va., and Doris Gunter of Ridgeway, Va.; four grandchildren, Sarah H. Reed, Parker Hutchinson, Leigh Marteney and Alan Parker; and eight great-grandchildren. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 12 noon in the Douglas Mortuary Chapel in Welch with the Revs. Olen Butcher-Winfree and Alan Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in Iaeger Memorial Cemetery in Roderfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 416, Welch, WV 24801.
The Douglas Mortuary of Welch is serving the Parker family.
