CLAYPOOL HILL, Va. —
James Edwin Justice, age 79, of Claypool Hill, Virginia, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital.
He was born in Holden, West Virginia and was the son of the late Harry and Edna Creech Justice.
He was very active in the mining industry having worked for Island Creek, Iaeger Mining Company, and Consolidation Coal Company. He was also a mine inspector for the state of West Virginia, the Mine Enforcement and Safety Administration, and Consolidation Coal Co. He was a fifty-year member of the Berwind Masonic Lodge and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Kenneth, and Max; and four sisters, Clara, Lucille, Lillian, and Maxine. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors are: His wife of sixty years: June Carol Hammond Justice; two daughters: Kimberly Brewster and husband, Alvin of Pounding Mill, Virginia, Stephanie Berry and husband, Daniel of Richlands, Virginia; two sons: Tim Justice and wife, Debbie of Madison, West Virginia, Mark Justice and wife, Brenda of Pineville, West Virginia. Six grandchildren: Jimmy Justice, Kevin Justice, Brandon Webb, Lori Bernhart, Angela Chambers, and Leslie Whited and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for James E. Justice will be conducted Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Larry Ramey officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, West Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Donnie Hammond, Fred Stinson, Jerry Hickman, Jimmy Justice, Kevin Justice, and Brandon Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be: Members of the Berwind Masonic Lodge.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
