PETERSTOWN —
Lillie (“Dolly”) Elizabeth Ellison, age 95, of Peterstown, W.Va., passed away, Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Knoxville, Tenn. Born November 23, 1917 in Greenville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry H. and Lula Burnette Long.
Dolly and her husband, Charlie, ran CR Ellison’s General Merchandise in Ballard, W.Va. for over forty years. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Ballard, a longtime member of the Ballard Women’s Club, the Hans Creek CEO’s and the Peterstown Chapter #118 Order of the Eastern Star. Dolly was a 1935 graduate of the Greenville High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charlie Russell Ellison; a sister, Margie Broyles; three brothers, Burnard Long, Frank Long and Carl Long; and her son-in-law, Frank Owen Belcher Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Nancy Belcher of Knoxville, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Kara Belcher Cooley and husband, Matt of Nashville, Tenn., and Laurie Belcher Meyers and husband, Bret of Knoxville, Tenn., and five great-grandchildren, Maggie Ellison Cooley, Lillie Clare Cooley, Caroline Marie Meyers, Molly Elizabeth Meyers, and Charlie Owen Meyers; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Long of Ballard, W.Va.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 31st at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Howdock officiating. The burial will follow at the Orchard Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30th.
