ABINGDON, Va. —
After a period of declining health, James McCall “Jim Mac” Lambert, 68 years of age, died peacefully at Grace Healthcare of Abingdon, Va., on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Born in Grundy, Va., he was the son of the late James W. and Verna Patrick Lambert.
“Jim Mac” was a graduate of Grundy High School and Emory & Henry College and was a disabled social worker.
He is survived by three sisters: Sandy Cook of Bristol, Tenn., June Strachan of Clearwater, Fla., Charlotte Rockey of Encino, Calif.; one niece: Phyllis Carlyle of Encino, Calif.; six nephews: Dr. Patrick (wife Susan) Rash of Kingsport, Tenn., Dr. Jonathan (wife Anita) Cook of Chapel Hill, N.C., Dr. Joel Cook of Charleston, S.C., Scott Strachan of Clearwater, Fla., Eric (wife Kathy) Strachan of Naples, Fla., Jeffrey (wife Janelle) Carlyle of Chanhassen, Minn.
Graveside Rites for James McCall “Jim Mac” Lambert will be conducted Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va., with Evg. Dennis Wimmer officiating with burial to follow.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 noon till 2:30 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Hospice of SW Virginia, 301 East Valley Street, Abingdon, VA 24210.
