NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Ruby Jean Adkins, age 63, of North Tazewell, Va. died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, Va. Born May 25, 1949 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Nelson Miles Tunnell and Pinky Lee Hagerman Tunnell. She was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Prater; and two brothers, Junior Miles Tunnell and Roy Lee Tunnell.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Adkins; one son, Johnny Adkins Jr. of the home; six sisters, Mabel Muncy Addair and husband David of Coretta, Edith Duty and husband Jim of War, Barbara Whitt of Welcome, N.C., Elsie Griffin and husband Tim of Kernersville, N.C., Darlene Beard of Parkersburg, and Peggy Sue Perdue and husband Franklin of Lexington, N.C.; one brother, James Tunnell and wife Lois of Bishop, Va.; and sister-in-law, Nancy Sue Adkins Horne of Tazewell, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon today (Saturday), Jan. 26, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Wilmer Muncy officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
