LASHMEET —
Robert Lee Wood Sr., 53, of Lashmeet, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at his home. Born Aug. 22, 1959 in Bluefield, he was the son of Robert Ray Wood of Lashmeet and the late Edna Prince Wood.
Mr. Wood was of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing and hunting with his son and putting up hay. He was a coal miner and a roofer.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sharon Phillips Wood; one son, Robert Lee Wood Jr. and Chris Hill whom he thought of as a son; six sisters, Sue Basham and her significant other, Ed Sizemore, Darla Montgomery and her husband Larry, Judy Rose and her husband Bobby, Shiela Foley, Shirley Adkins and Donna Williams; three grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Jorja and Savannah Wood and Ruby Cole; and special friends, Judy and Weldon McKinney.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Honoring his request, the body has been cremated.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 from 1 p.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
