Eugene Lusk
BURLINGTON, N.C. — Eugene Lusk, 88, of Burlington, N.C., formerly of Herndon died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Lusk was a native of Wyoming County, W.Va., and was born January 18, 1925 to the late Linden and Lillie Farley Lusk. He was a charter member of Bud Missionary Baptist Church, and was a retired mining administrator. Eugene Lusk was an Army veteran who landed at Utah Beach on June 6, 1944 and served in France during WWII.
Eugene Lusk was married for 65 years to the recently deceased Ethel Lusk. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Linda Lusk of Basin; daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Steve Fox of Elon, N.C.; and son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Judy Lusk of Dandridge, Tenn.; granddaughter and husband, Missy and Aaron Thompson of Culloden, W.Va.; granddaughter and husband, Tonya and Richard Nkhata of Hamilton, Ohio; granddaughter and husband, Crystal and Gary Morrison of Leitchfield, Ky.; grandson Kevin Lee of Elgin, Ill.; granddaughter Jackie Weeks of Richmond ,Ky.; granddaughter and husband, Kim and Shawn Miller of Harlan, Ky.; grandson and wife, Todd and Audra Hatfield of New Orleans, La.; granddaughter Candi Hargett of Burlington, N.C,; granddaughter and husband Michelle and Mike Chisholm of Burlington, N.C. Also surviving are brothers Paul and wife Ellen Lusk; Jack and wife Orpha Lusk; sisters Wanda Goad; Naomi and husband Robert Kaufman, Carrie and husband Jessie Tolliver. Eugene and Ethel have fourteen great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Eugene was blessed with the love and support of several wonderful homecare workers, close family and friends during his dear wife's failing health. He continued to receive their love and support after her death in November 2012 until his passing 4 months later.
Eugene Lusk was preceded in death by his lovely wife Ethel Rozella Lilly Lusk, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Margaret Lusk; brother-in-law Jesse Goad, and great-grandson Mason Alexandrow.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton, W.Va. The funeral service will take place at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Paul Lusk and the Rev. Naomi Kaufman will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military honors will be conducted by the West Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Lee, Richard Nkhata, Shawn Miller, Gary Morrison, Austin Miller, Mark Fox. Honorary pallbearers will be Brenden Miller and Hunter Alexandrow.
