NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Phyllis Geraldine “Granny” Beavers, age 88, of North Tazewell, Va., went to be with the Lord Friday, March 15, 2013 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Born August 15, 1924 at Thorpe, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Edgar Madison Smith and Ethel Laura Vaught Smith. She lived in Tazewell, Va. most of her life and was an inspiration and joy to all who knew her. She attended Tazewell First Assembly of God for many years and lived her life with the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Beavers; an infant son; two sisters, Virginia Cline and Shirley Eller; one brother, Woodrow Smith and a dear friend, Marty Gallagher.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Beavers of Ladson, S.C.; two brothers, Harold Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Robert Smith of Little Falls, N.Y.; special daughter, Judy Gallagher, special grandchildren, Terrie Gallagher Scott, Steve Gallagher and wife, Keela, and Olivia Grey all of Winston Salem, N.C.; dear friends, Lil Atwell, Lonnie Quesenberry, and Freddie Gillespie all of Tazewell, Va.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell, W.Va. with the Reverend Jimi Watson officiating.
Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home of Tazewell, Va. is serving the family.
