Archie Quentin Brown

OAKVALE — Archie Quentin Brown, 93, of the Cheesy Creek Road in Oakvale, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at his residence. Born February 16, 1920 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William Carson Brown and Emma Lester Brown.

Archie was a sheet metal mechanic union worker, formerly worked for Bodell & Company in Princeton, and was a member of the Sheet Metal Local Union #202 in Charleston, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a lifelong resident of the Oakvale area.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Otto Brown and Phillip Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Mae Whitlow Brown of Oakvale; three daughters, Carlotta Hobbs and husband James of North Carolina, Linda Brown and former husband Aubrey Reeves of Princeton, and Victoria White and husband Bernard White Jr. of Pleasant Hill; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Portland Brown and wife Bernadine of Michigan; two sisters, Jessie Oxley of North Carolina and Lorraine Gore of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the New Zion Cemetery, Rt. 3, Princeton with Pastor Archie Bowling officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour on Sunday. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale is serving the Brown family.
