MORGANTOWN —
Thomas L. Linkous, 65, of Morgantown, W.Va. and formerly of Bluefield, passed away peacefully Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous short battle with cancer. He was born July 30, 1947 in Bluefield, W.Va. Tom graduated from Bluefield High in 1965, WVU undergraduate and Law School in 1973.
Tom was a loving son, supportive brother, loving husband, caring father, awesomely fun grandfather, and genuine friend to many people. Tom was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan and a wonderful blessing to those who knew him. He will be missed dearly by many.
Tom practiced law with his uncle, Leo Catsonis in Charleston, worked within the WV legislature numerous years, served as General Council for Pocahontas Land Corporation 19 years and most recently practiced law with Morgantown attorney Andy Fusco - Bowles Rice Law Firm, and Tom had been a friend of “Bill Wilson” for over 16 years, and had been title examiner for Lewis Glasser Casey and Rollins Law firm. He also served on Board of Directors of Lawyers Assistance Program WV State Bar. Tom was also adjunct professor WVU school of Journalism.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Anna Catsonis and paternal grandfather and fathers, Thomas S. Linkous and Joe Joseph; numerous uncles and aunts.
Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Linkous; wife of 44 years, Kathy Hughes Linkous; daughters, Joi Beth Raub and Molly Linkous and one son, Jason Linkous; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Raub, Trace McLaren, and Aliyah Linkous, sisters: Judy Shrewsbury and her husband Donald, Mary Alice Arnold and her husband Tim, and Chris Arthur; brothers: Stan Linkous and his wife Patty, John Linkous and his wife Sandy; brothers-in-law, Jerry Hughes and his wife Brenda, Matt Hughes and his wife Tammy; aunts, Norma Linkous, Janet Catsonis and Liz Sexton; and an uncle, Sam Joseph. Also surviving are 16 nieces and nephews, and his goddaughter Grace Taylor Sudduth, and those of Morgantown Hospice for their loving care of Tom and special caregivers, Marsha Gillis, Mike Call and the Stone family.
A “Celebration of Life” Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bluefield, W.Va., Tuesday, December 18th, at 11:00 a.m. by Father Leon Alexander. The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church prior to Mass.
