RAYSAL —
Mary Baker, 62, of Raysal, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, following a short illness, in the Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn.
Mary was born Dec. 24, 1949, in Harman, Va., a daughter of the late Howard and Flecie Sliger. She was a 1968 graduate of Big Creek High School and a member of the United Church of God at Atwell for 26 years, where she loved to attend church with her family. Also, she enjoyed crocheting and cooking for her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Wayne Sliger.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories are her husband of 45 years, Ernest Baker of the home; two daughters, Angel Baker of the home, and Mitzie White and husband Jeff of Bluff City, Tenn.; one son, Shawn Baker and wife Amy of Bristol, Tenn.; five sisters, Linda McGuire and husband Robert of Tazewell, Va., Sandra Grizzell and husband Joe of Athens, Patty Baker and husband Bobby of Bluewell, Brenda Baker and husband Johnny, and Christine Kendrick and husband Harry all of Raysal; and four grand-children, Destiny, McKenzie, and Zachary White, and Hannah Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Roger Hale and the Reverend Ronnie Sliger officiating at the United Church of God on Atwell Mountain near Atwell, WV. Burial will follow in the Deskins Cemetery on Atwell Mountain. Brothers of the church will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family at the United Church of God on Atwell Mountain Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, from 6 p.m. until midnight.
