PRINCETON —
Ray Edward Burton, 84, of 1215 North Walker Street in Princeton, died Sunday, December 02, 2012, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born August 27, 1928 in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Luther J. Burton and Annie Smith Burton.
Ray was a retired U.S. Army veteran with twenty years service. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Lerona United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler at the Mountaineer Lanes in Bluefield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David R. “Butchie” Burton; three brothers, Emory Burton, Billy Burton, and Richard Burton; and three sisters, Josephine Harman, Elizabeth Stallard, and Frances McLamore.
Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Jewel A. Marshall Burton of Princeton; one daughter, Judi Windham and husband Mike of Clayton, N.C.; three grandchildren, Sherri Morris and husband Matthew, David Windham and wife Melissa, and William Windham; three great-grandchildren, Matt Hill, Brianna Windham, and Jacob Windham; two sisters, Garnet Houchins and husband B.J. of Bluefield and Shirley Davidson and husband Don of Yakima, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Gary Pettrey officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill, W.Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 (today).
