PARKERSBURG —
Phillip Alexander White, 74, of Parkersburg, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at his home. He was born September 14, 1938 in Mercer County, W.Va. to the late Modoc and Allison (Hedrick) White.
Phillip attended Grace Gospel Church when he was physically able.
He attended Concord College and McClain's Business College.
He worked for Gibraltar Mausoleum at Sunset Memory Gardens for his entire working career. He was a past president of West Virginia Cemetery Association for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time at his farm in Wirt County. He liked watching NASCAR and golf. He loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Demma (Comer) White; two children, Van Steven White (Tammy) of Parkersburg and Jeanine (White) Spencer of Richwood, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Breanna Shahan (Tyson), Allison Spencer, Sarah Spencer, Alex White, and William Bell; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trystan, and Adelaide; one brother, Modock White (Joan) of Harlingen, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Sunday, November 25, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Roger Benson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Saturday, November 24 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Sunday from 3-4 p.m.
